baby girl

SageCollage
could you think about moving/packing when you had this face to stare at?
yeah, i can't either.
her little personality is starting to come out and i'd rather play with her all day.

poor sage. in her short little life, we've already made her do things that she did NOT want to do.
like this photo shoot...she was not having it, tutu or not.

we've also made her take passport pictures {miserable},
but we're hoping she'll know her parents were cool once when she looks back on her baby passport full of stamps.

we've spent this week getting things prepared to make the move to asia next weekend. i'm still pretending that we're just going on an extended vacation so i don't get too sad about leaving chitown...

cousin buddies

{my current fav of this little girl}

i grew up with a boy cousin in my same grade and we even went to some of the same schools. we played house when we were little and shared friends in high school. it was so fun!

sage's cousin, camden, was born exactly a month after her only a few days ago. i love that she will have a cousin buddy too...and conveniently, it will be easy to remember their birthdays. welcome little camden! and congratulations to my brother's cute family of four.

girl & the goat

i can't even put into words how grateful i am to have made such amazing friends in this city. seriously! they are the best. two such friends had a reservation for months at girl and the goat, a restaurant that i've been dying to try. i tried to make us a reservation awhile ago before the move, but the soonest date was in august! they gave up their reservation and even watched little sage for us so we could have one last date just the two of us. wonderful!

burbcation

as kind of a last hurrah before people go on summer trips and move, we spent a weekend in the suburbs with friends. who knew you had to pack up your whole life just to take your baby on an overnight trip? i think nate will be significantly stronger after six weeks of carrying everything all the time since i can't lift anything but sage. we went out to eat, relaxed, spent time outside, and i laughed until i thought my incision might break open. love love love these friends and these trips!

weekend with family

recovering from a c-section has been really rough for me. i feel like a crazy woman most of the time, but slowly i know things will normalize. it was such a gift to have family in town for the long weekend and have help with the babe. even though i've been laying low, we still wanted to do as many fun things as we could with our family.

had to take everybody to smoque...or as my dad would say, "smoke-que"
don't mind my appearance. makeup is a long lost friend of mine.

IMG_6768
want the worst-ever idea? take your 2.5 week old baby to the taste of chicago when it's 95 degrees + full humidity outside plus you can barely walk because your stomach was recently slashed open. while i'm glad everyone got a taste of the taste, sage and i quickly booked it home after some roasted corn and spent the rest of the day relaxing in an air-conditioned room.

i'm 100% positive that when my mom is with me pushing the stroller, everyone thinks sage is her child and i'm the teenage sister

nate has been a dream. he is so helpful and i love watching him with sage.
{he's not single}

we loved having everyone here one last time before we move. sage already misses the attention and being held all day.

blessed

nate gave sage a beautiful blessing at our church this weekend. my mom, dad, sister stephanie, and nate's brother beau all flew out for the occasion. we felt very loved by both friends and family. our once super calm newborn has been fussy this week, but luckily didn't make a sound when she was blessed. only afterward did the crying commence :)
