if teaching falls apart, and my editing degree gets me nowhere, i am 100% positive i would be highly successful as a professional time waster.
how do people ever get bored?
i "started" my homework two hours ago, and yet here i am. still with a blank word document.
focus. focus.
but, i've been wasting time doing good things...
reading, researching, editing, you know.

don't underestimate the preschoolers
recent conversations from my class...
T: i went to church last week. everybody was taking pictures and singing and swaying and singing. and then God was in my body.
J: i saw my uncle smackin on some girl in the park. yeah, he was kissing her everywhere!
then the conversation turned to "and one time my parents didn't have any clothes on" and i quickly tried to reign it back in with:
yeah, well, we just kiss our moms and dads...they love us.
these children know way more than i think. ahhh!

fall means winter and winter means...long
as if my shocking yellow walls weren't enough, i took a preemptive measure this year and made a palm tree in the corner of my classroom to remind me that winter where there are no mountains to ski really does come to an end and chicago summers really are wonderful even if they don't involve palm trees. and that corner really needed some bang! to it.

south haven
we spent labor day weekend in the little beach town of south haven, michigan.
14 adults, 3 babies, and 1 house (does that sound like a reality show waiting to happen?)
beach, massages, cooking, games, taking pictures, golf, relaxing, and laughing hysterically.
and watching byu's season opener against UW (nate's reason for loving fall).
it was so wonderful!
we're ready for round two...
