getting in the christmas spirit

while we're still wearing shorts and swim suits every day, and we have a total of zero christmas decorations up, i wanted to partake of the tropical christmas activities before we took off for our holiday trip.

nate's put in some long hours with work lately, so sage has been my dinner date. we took a picnic to the botanic gardens and wandered through the "trees of the world" display at twilight. this garden is one of my favorite places. it was peaceful, beautiful...and sweaty. always sweaty in singapore!

decorated trees lined the park paths

like this one garnished with orchids of course.

lots of sweet handmade decorations

as the sun set over swan lake, the light was perfect for about 60 seconds.
see that little sticker on sage's shirt? we live on those--mosquito repellant patches.

right as the tree lights came on and things were really starting to feel christmasy, a meltdown commenced.

the next night, our dinner date was at chili's. even though it is about twice the U.S. prices, a taste of familiarity is priceless.
we experienced the bubble snow avalanche at tanglin mall with lots of friends.

sage was unsure about this foam, then promptly decided it was not her thing and clung to me for dear life the rest of the night.

it sure looked like a winter wonderland...plus swimsuits
...and bubbles that began melting from the 85 degree weather.

so magical though.

the mark of singapore: a shiny face and frizzy hair.
check out sage's stone cold frown. she was not amused with this fake snow business.

but it sure felt like christmas to me.
