we've wanted to visit matt and belize ever since they moved to boston (and added a darling baby!) and finally found a weekend in november that worked, even though we crashed their 7th wedding anniversary.
baby junie! i've been dying to meet this pint-sized beauty. being around june gave us a great opportunity to teach nora the meaning of gentle. she was really enamored with june, when she wasn't excitedly whacking her on the head. these two will be in the same grade someday!

we took the T downtown and had quite the lunch spread at faneuil hall, then walked over to the north end for cannoli.

we also tried the lobster tail from mike's pastry. once again, anything with "lobster" is bound to be good in my book--even if it only means the shape of the decadent pastry.

it was a cold cold afternoon, but the kids loved running around while the babies were bundled up.

had to take a groupie of our circus on the T

we all love "vacation nate" who turns into a yes man and buys balloon swords for all!

we ate inventive tapas at oleana and had such a fun date night walking around the dreamy streets of beacon hill.

on monday, we drove to concord and fulfilled my dream of visiting walden pond. i read thoreau for the first time when i was 15 and have loved transcendentalism literature ever since. the fun didn't stop there for my inner english nerd. i was giddy walking through sleepy hollow cemetery, reading the names of the literary giants buried there. our next stop was a private tour (it pays to visit in tourist-less rainy november) of the old manse, where hawthorne and emerson once lived. we walked out to where the first shots of the revolutionary war were fired at north bridge too.

boston, concord, the food, the people...we loved it all.

the chilly/rainy weather didn't even matter--sage was stoked to play with her buddies and i needed about 16 more hours of chatting with belize than i actually got.
we also checked out fenway park one afternoon and took some family photos (threw off our coats in between poses to make it look like it wasn't frigid outside!) with belize, our favorite photographer.
B did teach me her ninja bow-making skills though. who needs pinterest when you have a belize?on monday, we drove to concord and fulfilled my dream of visiting walden pond. i read thoreau for the first time when i was 15 and have loved transcendentalism literature ever since. the fun didn't stop there for my inner english nerd. i was giddy walking through sleepy hollow cemetery, reading the names of the literary giants buried there. our next stop was a private tour (it pays to visit in tourist-less rainy november) of the old manse, where hawthorne and emerson once lived. we walked out to where the first shots of the revolutionary war were fired at north bridge too.

our days of suburban road trips may be over, but i'm glad we got to visit these guys on their own turf.

So glad you guys got to visit! it looks like you guys had a blast. And I love the guy covering his face on your selfie photo! lol
