OBX

at the end of each year, all the lds families of fuqua take a trip to the outer banks of north carolina. "beach week" included no less than 14 families and 24 kids under the age of five. chaotic and fun! we lucked out with beautiful weather and a giant house on the beach. each family took a turn cooking for the huge group each night, and we spent every day on the beach or in the pool. we had a few epic games of greed and mafia (plus hot tubbing) once the kids were in bed. someone said that getting high for a parent is having children asleep for the night. true that.

the boys had a golf day, the girls had a bodie island lighthouse tour/lunch date, and we fit some mini golfing and a day trip in too.

we drove with a few other families to ocracoke island. past the dreamy houses on stilts in rodanthe and the iconic lighthouse in hatteras is the ferry to ocracoke. we looked and looked but never spied any wild horses on the island. what we found was a cute little town, the second oldest lighthouse in america, and probably the best taco truck i've eaten at before. byutv also happened to be filming an episode of american ride on ocracoke that day, so we pulled up to the trailer and had a solid conversation about the pirate black beard with stan ellsworth.

i'm already excited for next year's beach week.
a photostream from my camera and phone to remember our trip...
