on thursday i had the pleasure of having oral surgery. not. actually, i was more afraid of the IV than the actual surgery. my gums on the bottom two front teeth had recessed to a dangerous point, so i had a gum graft to fix the problem. the IV part was not bad, and i loved that i was completely zonked out for the surgery. a HUGE blessing was that my mom is in town, so she took care of me just like back in the old days of wisdom teeth extraction! moms are the best :)
i thought i would bounce back quickly and be able to go to school and do all my weekend plans. yeah right! unfortunately, i had an allergic reaction to the pain medicine and the antibiotics and vomited for a good 24 hours. not only was the pain excruciating from my mouth pulling at the stitches each time i threw up, but it was just plain gross. i have a new prescription for anti-nausea meds that is doing the trick! yes!
so, the recovery is not so easy as i thought. it feels like someone stapled my mouth in the front and the picture above sums up my life as of now. gotta love that soft foods diet.
I had that exact same surgery the December we got back from study abroad - NO FUN! I'm sorry to hear you were so sick and don't worry about Saturday - I'm just glad to hear you're feeling better!

ReplyDeleteYou poor thing! I can only imagine how much that must have hurt! I'm so glad, though, that your mom was there to help take care of you (moms are the best!), and that you are on better meds now! Hope your recovery will be quick! --Jenny
