we moved into our downtown apartment this weekend. it feels so good to not be living out of suitcases since we spent the first month in a temporary serviced apartment. after a few trips to ikea and some creative storage solutions, we are making this space feel like home...even if it means baby sage's nursery is the concrete storm shelter box/closet, which it is.
someone gave us the wise advice to make this our home while we live in asia. instead of talking about going "home" for christmas or wishing i were "home" on the bad days, live in the here and now and really make singapore feel like home for our little family. that's the mindset i'm going to focus on these next few months as i get to know the city better.
some things i love about our new place:
- we live in the middle of the financial district downtown, but can see the ocean and shipping yards from our windows
- nate's work commute is a whole four minutes. we live next door to his office!
- it's a five minute walk to the MRT (my personal mode of transit)
- chinatown is a ten minute walk away. i can't wait to go take pictures over there. the colorful shophouses are so cool
- pools galore. once baby girl's skin gets accustomed to this heat (baby skin + tropical climate = sad rashes), we'll be spending our days poolside
